Why do so few men ask for help?

Look around any therapy room, wellness clinic or holistic practice and you'll notice the same thing I have. The chairs are mostly filled by women.

Colleagues across the alternative and holistic therapies field tell me they see it too. And yet men experience stress, anxiety, grief, burnout, emotional pain and trauma just as much as women do. They doubt themselves. They struggle in relationships. They lie awake at night.

The difference is rarely in how much men suffer. It is in what they do with that suffering.

So many men grew up hearing the same handful of messages. Be strong. Don't complain. Just get on with it. Keep your feelings to yourself. Man up.

Repeated often enough, those words become instructions. They teach a boy that emotions are something to hide rather than something to understand, and he grows into a man who carries the weight of his struggles silently, convinced he should be able to cope alone.

But here is the truth: emotional pain does not disappear simply because it is ignored.

It goes underground. It shows up as broken sleep, low energy, a short fuse, foggy thinking, strained relationships, fading confidence and even physical symptoms. Many men spend years, sometimes decades, carrying burdens they have never once spoken about, without realising how much those buried experiences are shaping their daily lives.

Asking for help is not weakness. It takes real courage to look at what you have been carrying.

A kinesiology session offers a safe, private space free of judgement, where you can explore what may be happening beneath the surface. By helping to calm the nervous system and reduce the body's stress response, kinesiology can support steadier emotions, clearer thinking and a genuine sense of relief.

You do not have to carry everything on your own.

Sometimes the strongest thing a man can do is ask for support.
